Understanding

CONTEXT

Article 4˚ of the Mexican constitution recognizes everyone has the right to access sufficient, safe, acceptable, and affordable water for personal and domestic uses.

In Mexico, around 18.7 million people lack improved sanitation, 10.4 million lack sewerage, and 16% of national aquifers are overexploited (Torres, 2017).

Availability has been an important issue due to over-demand and pollution under an unbalanced and unequal management model (Torres, 2017).

Method

WORKFLOW

Who we are…

  • Ciclo 720 believes and puts its efforts towards new practices of decentralized water distribution, with creative and participative communities, building together new attitudes and capabilities, spreading awareness, and re-signifying the value of water. There is no planet B, so reflecting, demanding, and acting are what communities should organize and push. Water gives life, but consciousness gives water.

  • Participate as facilitators of rainwater systems to communities, promoting water value and providing capabilities among plumbers and citizens. A proper adoption allows everyone to take care of water. We want the community to be involved and collaborate to reach this goal.

  • A world where people consume only the necessary water so everyone can have it. A participatory, capable, and sharing community, with the conscious to demand and care for others towards a more sustainable world.

Who participates?

PERSONAS

Our product service system engages various stakeholders throughout the product life cycle, primarily focusing on benefiting the community. We prioritize providing an affordable, high-quality system, particularly for those with limited water access. Simultaneously, we aim to foster a water-conscious culture among those with access. Last but not least, plumbers play an essential role in understanding how to install eco-technology properly.

Who participates?

SYSTEM MAP

The system map illustrates participant interactions and roles, emphasizing three critical flows: economic, logistic (terms of distribution), and educative, integral to our product service. Public institutions like government bodies, schools, and financial institutions play vital roles, leveraging expertise and platforms to enhance community adoption.

Real sized prototype for controlled trials with the system.

What

PROPOSAL

Ciclo 720 is the first automatic Rainwater Harvesting System (RWHS) on the market. Unlike other systems, our system does not separate the first 2.7 mm of rainwater (the filthiest water) by storing it as other systems do. The Ciclo 720 system saves space and reduces costs, making our proposal more affordable and accessible. At the same time, the service consists of an instructional program to build the plumbers' capabilities to install the systems correctly.

How

CICLO SYSTEM ABC

A COLLECTION AREA

An independent surface that activates the separation of the first flush.

B LEAF SEPARATOR

It separates debris obstructing the water flow to the first flush separator.

C FIRST FLUSH FILTER

It separates the first 2.7 mm of rainwater (the most contaminated one).

D MODULAR STORAGE SYSTEM

Modular water storage tank or group of tanks to store rainwater.

How?

CICLO 720 App

The app and website seek to connect people with the system and allow consumers to acquire the system that best fits their needs and space. The platform visualizes and details the innovation, how it works, its benefits, and its usage. Finally, we explain the causes and consequences of the current situation through different media resources so the consumer can understand Mexico's water crisis.

ONTOLOGY

How

Main Offer

ACQUIRE A SYSTEM

Our app enables consumers to identify the optimal system for their needs and space, purchase it, locate the closest plumber for installation, and obtain accessories to maximize water conservation.

Secondary Offer

OUR RWH SYSTEM

Our app provides detailed descriptions and visual demonstrations of our system, its components, and its environmental, economic, and social benefits. Users may also track their consumption and receive guidance for more sustainable practices.

UNDERSTAND
THE PROBLEM

Secondary Offer

Our app provides space and resources for users to comprehend and educate themselves on Mexico's water crisis, particularly in Mexico City. The current water crisis is a consequence of factors like aquifer overexploitation, unequal distribution, and system neglect.

CERTIFICATION
PROGRAM

Service Offer

The service consists of designing a certification program for the plumbers who install the systems. This process consists of offering a blended program that provides the theoretical basis of RWH Systems, benefits, and technical information.
