Understanding

CONTEXT

How may we determine what is worth preserving in a world of horror, plenty of pictures, and multimedia content? Our phones are locked coffers of potential fragments that could represent our present community for future generations. In the future, we are meant to get rid of what is unnecessary, and we may rely on the support of our community to change our behavior.

Let the hidden evidence of our present emerge from our archives while deleting the information overload. Creating a shared representation of local communities by a democratic material selection and fighting against the horror plane, unraveling a shared sense-making about what is valuable.

Method

WORKFLOW

Who we are…

  • We believe in preserving what is important, quality over quantity, for the archives of tomorrow we ask you to reflect on what is truly significant to keep in this digital era. The photos are the communication pathway between past, present and future. Our heritage is communal, memories overlap and intertwine as they form our collective identity. Our archive is a community one, the emphasis is on what we share, how we build upon the stories of others.

  • To guide people in making choices, curating their “camera roll” by understanding what photos are worth preserving. We want to create bonds by sharing memories, turning the deleting process into a positive and democratic one.

  • A world where people take only the necessary photos with the scope of preserving memories. Photos regain value as the stories associated to them are given a space.
